Body odour, weight gain, feeling lethargic, and unhealthy??? You might need a detox. Yes, I know about the detox teas but, I will tell you a much more effective way to detox and feel a whole lot better. All you need to do is take regular HOT and COLD showers (hydrotherapy). Yes, you read that right, COLD. Good luck with that in the winter lol . I have been doing this for years and it has helped me a lot.
Hot and cold showers are beneficial for increasing blood circulation, draining the lymphatic system, boosting your immune system, etc.
The lymphatic system is a vast network of lymph nodes and vessels that acts like the body’s internal garbage system: it flushes out toxins. Therefore, it is important to keep the lymph fluids flowing and not remain stagnant. But, unlike the circulatory system which has the heart to keep it pumping; there’s no pump to keep the lymphatic system moving. It has to be manually pumped, which is mostly done through exercise. Another way to help the lymph vessels to get pumping is hydrotherapy. The lymph vessels contracts when exposed to cold and relaxes in response to heat. This contraction or pumping action pushes lymph fluids through the vessels, draining the fluids and removing toxins.
Hot and cold showers also help with blood circulation. Start with hot water since the warm temperatures will open the blood vessels and flush the body with blood. Then switch to cold, this will drive the blood inward to warm and protect the internal organs from the cold, then switch back to hot to get the blood going again. Do this back and forth. Before you shower, it is also beneficial to do dry body brushing but, not necessary (look for my post on body brushing). But let me tell you, a vigorous dry brushing before you shower will make a new person out of you.
Follow the 3 to 1 process (3 minutes hot, 1 minute cold):
Start with a regular hot shower then switch to cold water for 1 minute, then back to 3 minutes of hot water, followed by another minute of cold water. Do this back and forth for at least 4 cycles, always starting with hot and ending with cold. Do this every time you shower.
I would recommend starting with temperatures that you can handle and for as long as you can, start slowly and gradually increase.
You’re not trying to win any competition by proving how hot or cold you can take the water. Listen to your body and stop if you feel that you should.
